Takoradi, Ghana · Museum LightingThe Commission
Bring the art to life. Preserve it for the years ahead.
DextDee Studios was commissioned to illuminate the curated collection at Bisa Abewa Art Museum. The system was designed around the viewer, the artwork and the room—controlling glare and shadows, preserving accurate color and using LED light to reduce harmful UV exposure.

The Lighting Brief
Light that serves the art.
Glare Control
Fixture position, shielding and diffusion keep reflections from competing with the work.
Shadow Control
Beam angles reduce viewer shadows and unwanted spill from neighboring displays.
Color Balance
Custom gels and balanced LED output reveal the intended material and color.
LED Preservation
Low-UV LED sources help protect sensitive objects from long-term fading.

The Method
How we solved the room.
- 01
Study the Collection
We reviewed each object, surface, viewing angle and the architecture around it.
- 02
Map the Viewer
We considered sightlines, movement and where shadows or glare would appear.
- 03
Shape & Balance
We selected optics, diffusion and color treatment for every display.
- 04
Test & Support
We refined the installation on site and remain available as exhibits evolve.

Continuing Care
The installation ended. The partnership didn’t.
When a new artifact enters the museum or a display moves, DextDee continues to help the lighting serve the collection at its best.
Project Result
The work, seen differently.
“The completed installation gives every object clearer presence while allowing the gallery to feel calm, coherent and respectful of its history.”
